Dinevate vs SpotHopper

Dinevate is one system that runs your website, your online ordering, your branded app, your AI phone line and your front counter on a single menu and a single guest list. Every order, whatever door it came through, lands on the same screen.

  • Ordering with real options

Guests pick sizes, half-and-half pizzas, and extra or light on single ingredients — every choice priced on the ticket, not typed into a notes box.

  • Paid before pickup

Your guests pay by card at checkout, so the order is settled before anyone walks in the door.

  • Articles on your own site

We write full local articles from your live menu and publish them on your domain, then show you what each one earned.

  • A price you can see

Setup is $499, one time, the same for everyone; after launch there is an ongoing arrangement built around your restaurant, with no contract.

This is the ordering your guests get

Not a mockup — your menu, on your own domain and in your own branded app, with the checkout guests already know from the national chains.

Choose Dinevate if…

Online ordering is where your money lands, and you want guests paying online with real, priced choices — plus your website, app, phone line and counter on one system, and real local articles on your own domain.

Choose SpotHopper if…

Your decision is really about running private events — the inquiry-to-contract side, with e-signature agreements and reservation deposits — and online ordering is a small side channel for you.

What is SpotHopper?

SpotHopper is a restaurant marketing platform that sells a website inside a marketing bundle on a done-for-you service model, with a named onboarding specialist, a named support agent and professional photography included. Its private-events module handles inquiries with e-signature contracts and reservation deposits. Online ordering is part of the bundle, though several of the reference restaurants SpotHopper features route their ordering to Toast or SpotOn. SpotHopper publishes no pricing anywhere on its site — there is no pricing page in its sitemap — and operators report roughly $200 to $400+ per month, typically on annual agreements, with Event Planner billed as an add-on.

What is Dinevate?

Most vendors sell a website and an ordering page, then bolt a phone product, an app and a register on top. In Dinevate they were never separate. Website checkout, the branded mobile app, the AI phone line and the in-store register all call the same order function, so a phone order and a web order are the same object in the same system — same tax logic, same discount validation, same duplicate guard, same confirmation email, same printing — and all of them land on the same kitchen screen, so there is no separate "AI orders" inbox to remember to check. One menu record feeds the website, the app, what the phone agent says out loud, the register and Google's food-ordering feeds, so you price a dish once. One customer record covers all of it: the phone agent matches a returning caller by number to the same account the website uses, and a first-time caller becomes a customer record with the order attached — the same list your email marketing sends to. Because the channel is stamped on every order, your dashboard draws one "How Customers Order" breakdown across website, app, phone and counter. Onboarding is $499 one time, a set price, and it covers your website, online ordering, loyalty, the local SEO program, email marketing and the Order Manager tablet, which is loaned and remains Dinevate property. Your branded mobile app is included too, at no separate price. After launch you are on an ongoing arrangement — either a per-order service fee or a flat monthly, whichever fits your restaurant — with no contract and no cancellation penalty, and four products are add-ons with their own subscriptions: reservations, Dinevate Voice AI, Catering Pro and Social Media Pro. Dinevate Delivery is not a subscription at all — it is the delivery itself, paid per delivery, only when you use it.

Why restaurants choose Dinevate over SpotHopper

The phone call becomes a customer, not a note

Website checkout, the branded app, the AI phone line and the front counter all call the same order function, so there is no second pipeline for behaviour to drift between and no separate inbox to check. A caller the phone agent has never seen becomes a customer record with the order attached — the same record the website uses and the same list your email marketing sends to. A vendor selling a website plus a marketing bundle cannot make that link, because there is no phone product sitting on the same database.

Every choice priced, and paid before pickup

On the SpotHopper flow we tested, an item was added with a quantity dropdown and every customisation funnelled into one box labelled "Special instructions, requests or add ons…", so the change reached the kitchen unpriced and untyped, and checkout ended by telling the guest payment would be collected at the restaurant at pickup. Dinevate builds the choice into the item instead: half-and-half pizza with each topping on the left half, whole pie or right half; topping prices that follow the size chosen; Light, Normal, Extra or On the Side per ingredient; quantities like 2x bacon; and a required group that scrolls the guest straight to whatever they missed. Extra cheese becomes a priced line on the ticket, and the card is charged at checkout.

We write the pages, not just the tags

SpotHopper's public SEO help category is one article about page titles and meta descriptions, and the customer sitemaps we checked ran 5 to 9 URLs. Dinevate publishes 10 to 16 full local articles for a single-location restaurant — headline, four to six sections, FAQs, internal links — written from your live menu, your real hours and your real delivery and pickup times, on your own domain. The cap is deliberate: bulk near-duplicate pages get treated as doorway spam, so the plan is driven by Search Console data, and on 2026-08-05 we deleted 8,252 of our own low-value pages across 47 restaurants after measuring zero clicks lost. Every category and dish also gets its own indexable page, so your menu is search inventory instead of a single URL.

A number you can see, and an arrangement built for you

SpotHopper publishes no pricing anywhere on its site, and operators report roughly $200 to $400+ a month, typically on annual agreements. Dinevate states the fixed number up front: $499 one-time onboarding, the same for everyone, covering your website, online ordering, loyalty, local SEO, email marketing, your branded mobile app and the loaned Order Manager tablet. After launch there is an ongoing arrangement — a per-order service fee or a flat monthly, whichever fits your volume, ticket and channel mix — with no contract and no cancellation penalty, and four products are add-ons with their own subscriptions: reservations, Dinevate Voice AI, Catering Pro and Social Media Pro.

Best Sellers is built from real order counts and hides itself until a restaurant has enough history to be honest about it. Specials and Deals get their own destinations instead of being buried in the menu.
One system, not a stack

Most vendors sell a website and an ordering page, then bolt on the rest. In Dinevate they were never separate.

Your website, your online ordering, your branded app, the AI that answers your phone and the register at your counter all run on one menu, one order pipeline and one customer record. That is not a longer feature list — it is a different architecture, and it is what a website-plus-ordering vendor cannot copy without rebuilding.

One order pipeline, whichever door it came through

A website order, an order from your branded app, an order the AI took on the phone, and an order rung up at the counter are the same kind of order in the same system — same tax logic, same discounts, same duplicate protection, same confirmation. Nothing drifts between channels because there is no second channel to drift from.

One screen in the kitchen

Every order lands on the same Order Manager tablet and the same printer flow. A phone order looks exactly like a website order to your staff. There is no separate inbox to remember to check.

One menu behind every surface

The same menu drives your website, your app, what the AI says on the phone, the in-store register, and your Google food-ordering feeds. You price a dish once and it is priced everywhere.

One customer, however they reached you

When a regular calls, the AI recognizes the number against the same customer account the website uses — their name, their saved addresses. A caller who has never touched your website becomes a customer record with the order attached, and that record is the audience your email marketing already uses.

One list for reservations, one pipeline for catering

Bookings from the website, the app, the phone and the walk-in podium are a single list synced to the tablet. Catering inquiries taken on a call land in the same pipeline as the ones from your website form.

One chart a bolted-together stack cannot draw

Because the channel is recorded on every order, your dashboard shows one breakdown of how your customers actually order — website, app, phone, in-store — side by side. Vendors running separate systems for each channel have no single place that number exists.

And the ordering itself is built like a chain app

This is the part guests feel. Your regulars already know how the big chains order — Dinevate holds your menu to that standard.

Each category is its own page, not a scroll position

Most ordering platforms render your whole menu as one long document and give guests a jump-link to scroll inside it. Dinevate gives every category its own page, prefetched the moment the menu loads so it opens instantly — and individually indexable by Google. It behaves like an app and it ranks like a website.

Customization built for real menus

Half-and-half pizza with visual placement on the pie. Topping prices that follow the size automatically. Light, Normal, Extra or On the Side per ingredient. Required picks, pick-three budgets, nested sub-groups, and “these come included — tap to remove what you don’t want.”

Nobody gets stuck at the Add button

Miss a required choice and the button tells you so, then scrolls you straight to the group you missed and highlights it. The running price updates live on the button as you build the item.

Suggestions from your own order history

After an item is added, the suggestions that appear are computed from what your customers actually buy together, refreshed weekly — not a generic upsell list. Popular Combinations applies an entire proven build, every option included, in one tap.

Reorder that actually rebuilds the order

One tap rebuilds a past order with every modifier and special request intact. Favorites remember the exact options, not just the dish.

A checkout that does not lose people

Apple Pay and Google Pay where the processor supports them, saved cards, and guest checkout with no account wall. Four steps that collapse as you finish them, the order summary first on a phone, address autocomplete with a confirmation step, and honest longer wait times shown before the guest commits.

How Dinevate Delivery works

Frequently asked questions

Is Dinevate a good alternative to SpotHopper?
If online ordering is where your revenue lands, yes. SpotHopper sells a website inside a marketing bundle, and on the ordering flow we tested there were no structured modifiers and checkout collected no payment online. Dinevate runs your website, your ordering, your branded app and your front counter on one system with a single menu, a single order pipeline and a single customer record — with reservations, Dinevate Voice AI, Catering Pro and Social Media Pro available as add-ons — and publishes real local articles on your own domain. Onboarding is $499 one time, then an ongoing arrangement, with no contract.
What can a guest customise on Dinevate that a free-text box can't handle?
Anything you want priced. Half-and-half pizza with each topping placed on the left half, whole pie or right half; topping prices that change automatically with the size chosen; Light, Normal, Extra or On the Side per ingredient, with you deciding which levels to show; pick-one, pick-min-to-max, nested sub-groups, and "these come included, tap to remove any you don't want"; quantities like 2x bacon and total-quantity budgets with live remaining headroom. Miss a required choice and the button reads "Select options" and scrolls the guest to the exact group. All of it reaches the ticket priced and structured, instead of as a sentence for the kitchen to interpret at 7pm.
Does SpotHopper collect payment online?
On the live SpotHopper ordering flow we completed, it did not — checkout finished by telling the guest that payment would be collected at the restaurant at pickup. That is one flow on one restaurant and not a platform-wide statement, so confirm your own setup with SpotHopper. On Dinevate the guest pays by card at checkout, with Apple Pay and Google Pay available where your payment processor supports them, and a stored-value wallet, gift cards, promo codes and loyalty points can be turned on as additional ways to pay.
How much does SpotHopper cost in 2026?
SpotHopper publishes no pricing on its site — there is no pricing page in its sitemap. Operators report roughly $200 to $400+ per month, typically on annual agreements, with Event Planner billed as an add-on. Confirm current pricing with SpotHopper directly. Dinevate's fixed number is $499 one-time onboarding, the same for every restaurant, covering your website, online ordering, loyalty, local SEO, email marketing, your branded mobile app and the loaned Order Manager tablet. After launch you are on an ongoing arrangement — either a per-order service fee or a flat monthly — and reservations, Dinevate Voice AI, Catering Pro and Social Media Pro are add-ons priced separately.
Can Dinevate answer my phone?
Yes, with Dinevate Voice AI — an add-on with its own pricing, a commission on the orders it takes plus a $200/month account minimum. It is not part of the $499. It answers in English, takes the whole order from your real menu with sizes and modifiers into the same pipeline and onto the same kitchen screen as your website orders, answers menu questions, upsells from your own order history, books reservations where the restaurant has that enabled, captures catering leads and transfers to a person when asked — and you get a transcript of every call. When the caller pays by card, they receive a secure payment link by text rather than reading a card number aloud.
If I leave SpotHopper, do I lose my search rankings?
That is the part we plan for before launch. Dinevate issues real 301 redirects from your old provider's URLs to the matching new ones and genuine 410s for pages that should be gone, builds a sitemap live from your database with real per-item dates, and keeps your canonical tag, og:url and structured data pointing at your own domain. We register and verify the domain in Google Search Console, submit the sitemap, and then report clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position per site and per page — so you can see what each article earned instead of taking our word for it.
