Comparison

Dinevate vs ChowNow

Dinevate is one system: your website, online ordering, branded app, AI phone line and in-store register share a single menu, a single order pipeline and a single customer record. Onboarding is a set $499, one time, then an ongoing arrangement built around your restaurant.

  • One system, not four

A phone order and a website order are the same record, on the same kitchen screen, tied to the same customer.

  • Chain-app ordering depth

Every category opens as its own page, and a pizza can be half-and-half with topping prices that follow the size.

  • Real pages, not just tags

We write ten to sixteen full local articles from your live menu and publish them on your own website.

  • Priced for your restaurant

A set $499 onboarding, then a per-order fee or a flat monthly, whichever fits your volume, with no contract.

This is the ordering your guests get

Not a mockup — your menu, on your own domain and in your own branded app, with the checkout guests already know from the national chains.

What is ChowNow?

ChowNow is an online ordering company for independent restaurants. It puts ordering on the restaurant's own site with no commission on direct orders, includes a native branded app on all three of its tiers, and runs a Discovery Network that places order buttons inside Google, Yelp, Apple Maps, Tripadvisor and Snap on every tier. Published pricing is Launch $249, Grow $349 and Elevate $449 per month, or $229 / $319 / $409 billed annually, plus a $119–$499 setup fee, 2.95% + $0.29 card processing, the $99/year Apple developer fee for the app, $250–$420 for a printer, $7.98 per order for Flex Delivery and a 5% commission on catering orders. The websites ChowNow builds sit on three Squarespace templates, and ChowNow describes its search work in its own words as "structured sitemaps, optimized page titles, localized meta descriptions" — there is no blog or content module at any tier. On the direct ordering flow the canonical tag points at chownow.com, and ChowNow's support documentation states that customers cannot access past orders from their ChowNow account.

What is Dinevate?

Most vendors sell a website and an ordering page, then bolt on a phone product, an app and a register. In Dinevate they were never separate. Website checkout, the branded mobile app, the AI phone agent and the in-store register all call the same order function, so there is no second pipeline that can drift — the same tax logic, the same discount validation, the same duplicate guard, the same confirmation email, the same printing, whichever door the order came through. All of them land on one kitchen screen, so a phone order looks exactly like a web order on the tablet and there is no separate "AI orders" inbox anyone has to remember to check. One menu record feeds the website, the app, what the AI says on the phone, the register and Google's food-ordering feeds, so you price a dish once. The phone AI recognizes a returning caller by number against the same customer account the website and app use — name, saved delivery addresses, saved cards — and a first-time caller becomes a customer record automatically, which is also the audience your email marketing sends to. Because the channel is stamped on every order, your dashboard draws one "How Customers Order" breakdown across website, app, phone and counter — a chart a vendor running separate systems cannot draw. Onboarding is $499, one time, the same price for everyone: your website, online ordering, loyalty, the local SEO program, email marketing and the Order Manager tablet, which is loaned and remains Dinevate property. Your branded mobile app is included as well, with no separate subscription. After launch you are on an ongoing arrangement — a per-order service fee or a flat monthly, whichever fits your restaurant better — with no contract and no cancellation penalty. Four products are add-ons with their own subscriptions: reservations, Dinevate Voice AI, Catering Pro and Social Media Pro. Dinevate Delivery is not a subscription at all — it is the delivery itself, paid per delivery, only when you use it.

Why restaurants choose Dinevate over ChowNow

Your phone line stops being a separate business

Dinevate Voice AI is an add-on with its own pricing, but when it is switched on it is not an island. It answers in English 24/7, takes the whole order from your real menu with sizes and options, and drops it onto the same screen as your website orders — no second inbox, no re-keying. It knows a returning caller by their number, from the same customer list your website uses, and a first-time caller becomes a customer record with the order attached; ChowNow's published lineup has no phone product, so a call there is still a call somebody has to answer and type in.

Ordering built to chain-app standard

Most ordering platforms put the whole menu on one long page and give the guest a link to jump down it. Each Dinevate category is its own page, loaded before the guest taps it and indexable by Google on its own — and inside a dish, a pizza can be half-and-half with the toppings drawn on the pie, topping prices follow the size, any ingredient can be Light, Normal, Extra or On the Side, and a Popular Combinations tap applies an entire proven build at once. One tap on a past order rebuilds it with every option and special request intact, where ChowNow's own support documentation says diners cannot reach past orders from their ChowNow account.

We write the pages, not just the tags

ChowNow describes its own search work as sitemaps, page titles and meta descriptions, and there is no blog or content module on any of its tiers. Dinevate plans and writes ten to sixteen full local articles for a single-location restaurant — grounded in your live menu, your real hours and your real addresses — and publishes them on your own website, not ours. The number is capped on purpose, because bulk near-identical pages get treated as spam, and we report back what each individual page earned in Google Search Console.

A set price to start, and an honest ongoing number

Onboarding is $499, one time, the same for everyone, and it covers your website, online ordering, loyalty, the local SEO program, email marketing and the Order Manager tablet, which is loaned and stays ours. After launch there is an ongoing arrangement — a per-order service fee or a flat monthly, whichever actually fits your volume, ticket size and channel mix — with no contract and no cancellation penalty. We will not tell you nothing recurs, and the four add-ons are named openly and priced separately: reservations, Dinevate Voice AI, Catering Pro and Social Media Pro.

A Dinevate restaurant menu: a sticky category list down the left, Menu, Best Sellers, Specials and Deals across the top, and photographed category tiles
Best Sellers is built from real order counts and hides itself until a restaurant has enough history to be honest about it. Specials and Deals get their own destinations instead of being buried in the menu.
One system, not a stack

Most vendors sell a website and an ordering page, then bolt on the rest. In Dinevate they were never separate.

Your website, your online ordering, your branded app, the AI that answers your phone and the register at your counter all run on one menu, one order pipeline and one customer record. That is not a longer feature list — it is a different architecture, and it is what a website-plus-ordering vendor cannot copy without rebuilding.

One order pipeline, whichever door it came through

A website order, an order from your branded app, an order the AI took on the phone, and an order rung up at the counter are the same kind of order in the same system — same tax logic, same discounts, same duplicate protection, same confirmation. Nothing drifts between channels because there is no second channel to drift from.

One screen in the kitchen

Every order lands on the same Order Manager tablet and the same printer flow. A phone order looks exactly like a website order to your staff. There is no separate inbox to remember to check.

One menu behind every surface

The same menu drives your website, your app, what the AI says on the phone, the in-store register, and your Google food-ordering feeds. You price a dish once and it is priced everywhere.

One customer, however they reached you

When a regular calls, the AI recognizes the number against the same customer account the website uses — their name, their saved addresses. A caller who has never touched your website becomes a customer record with the order attached, and that record is the audience your email marketing already uses.

One list for reservations, one pipeline for catering

Bookings from the website, the app, the phone and the walk-in podium are a single list synced to the tablet. Catering inquiries taken on a call land in the same pipeline as the ones from your website form.

One chart a bolted-together stack cannot draw

Because the channel is recorded on every order, your dashboard shows one breakdown of how your customers actually order — website, app, phone, in-store — side by side. Vendors running separate systems for each channel have no single place that number exists.

And the ordering itself is built like a chain app

This is the part guests feel. Your regulars already know how the big chains order — Dinevate holds your menu to that standard.

Each category is its own page, not a scroll position

Most ordering platforms render your whole menu as one long document and give guests a jump-link to scroll inside it. Dinevate gives every category its own page, prefetched the moment the menu loads so it opens instantly — and individually indexable by Google. It behaves like an app and it ranks like a website.

Customization built for real menus

Half-and-half pizza with visual placement on the pie. Topping prices that follow the size automatically. Light, Normal, Extra or On the Side per ingredient. Required picks, pick-three budgets, nested sub-groups, and “these come included — tap to remove what you don’t want.”

Nobody gets stuck at the Add button

Miss a required choice and the button tells you so, then scrolls you straight to the group you missed and highlights it. The running price updates live on the button as you build the item.

Suggestions from your own order history

After an item is added, the suggestions that appear are computed from what your customers actually buy together, refreshed weekly — not a generic upsell list. Popular Combinations applies an entire proven build, every option included, in one tap.

Reorder that actually rebuilds the order

One tap rebuilds a past order with every modifier and special request intact. Favorites remember the exact options, not just the dish.

A checkout that does not lose people

Apple Pay and Google Pay where the processor supports them, saved cards, and guest checkout with no account wall. Four steps that collapse as you finish them, the order summary first on a phone, address autocomplete with a confirmation step, and honest longer wait times shown before the guest commits.

How Dinevate Delivery works

Frequently asked questions

Is Dinevate a good alternative to ChowNow?
It is, if you want more than an order button. ChowNow sells commission-free direct ordering with a branded app on a monthly subscription. Dinevate runs the website, the ordering, the branded app, the AI phone line and the front counter on one order pipeline, one menu and one customer record, publishes ten to sixteen full local articles on your own website, and charges $499 once for onboarding plus an ongoing arrangement built around your restaurant, with no contract.
What does Dinevate do that ChowNow does not?
Three things. Your channels stop being separate — a phone order and a website order are the same record, on the same kitchen screen, tied to the same customer. Your ordering gets real depth — every category is its own page, pizzas can be built half-and-half with the toppings drawn on the pie, topping prices follow the size you picked, and any ingredient can be Light, Normal, Extra or On the Side. And your own website gets real local articles written from your live menu, where ChowNow's own description of its search work is sitemaps, page titles and meta descriptions, with no content module on any tier.
How does Dinevate's pricing compare to ChowNow's?
ChowNow publishes Launch $249, Grow $349 and Elevate $449 per month ($229 / $319 / $409 billed annually), plus a $119–$499 setup fee, 2.95% + $0.29 processing, the $99/year Apple developer fee, $250–$420 for a printer, $7.98 per order for Flex Delivery and 5% on catering orders. Dinevate's onboarding is $499, one time, a set price. After launch you are on an ongoing arrangement — a per-order service fee or a flat monthly — which we quote once we have looked at your volume, ticket and channel mix rather than dropping you into a tier, with no contract and no cancellation penalty. Four products are add-ons with their own subscriptions: reservations, Dinevate Voice AI, Catering Pro and Social Media Pro. Your branded mobile app is not one of them — it is included, with no separate subscription.
Does Dinevate answer the phone, and is that included in the $499?
No — Dinevate Voice AI is a separate add-on with its own pricing: a commission on the orders it takes plus a $200/month account minimum. It is not inside the $499. When it is switched on it answers your phone 24/7 in English, takes the full order from your real menu with sizes and options, answers menu questions, can book reservations and capture catering leads where you enable those, transfers to a person when the caller asks, and gives you a transcript of every call. Those orders go into the same pipeline and onto the same tablet as your website orders. ChowNow's published product lineup does not include a phone or voice product.
Do I get a branded mobile app with Dinevate?
Yes, and as of August 2026 it is included rather than a paid add-on, so it carries no separate subscription. It is your own iPhone and Android app running the same menu, loyalty, wallet, gift cards and saved cards as your website, with Apple Pay and Google Pay where your processor supports them, plus one-tap reorder that rebuilds a past order down to every modifier. ChowNow also includes a native branded app on all three of its tiers; its published pricing lists the $99/year Apple developer fee as a separate line. With Dinevate, that same app is part of what you already have, at no separate price.
If I move off ChowNow, do I lose my search rankings?
That is the part we plan for first. We issue real 301 redirects and genuine 410s from your old provider's URLs, with built-in patterns for common old-provider URL shapes, and pages that are truly gone return a real 404 rather than a blank page pretending to work. Your ordering, category and dish pages then tell Google the real page lives on your own domain — on ChowNow's direct ordering flow, that pointer goes to chownow.com. We also register and verify your domain in Google Search Console, submit your sitemap, and report clicks, impressions, CTR and position back to you per site and per page. And your guest list comes with you: every customer — web, app, phone and walk-in — in one list you can export to CSV whenever you want.
